Second Suite in F major for Military Band

Post by FltnPicc_David »

I was admitted into my band's chamber ensemble for the piccolo part. We are playing the Second Suite in F Major and at the end of the 4th movement is a piccolo and tuba duet (marked piccolo solo on the flute sheet.) Does the solo go until the end of the composition, leaving the rest of the flutes out? Or do they come back in at the final 3rd octave F chord? Our first and second flutes as well as I have been very confused by this.

I think the solo goes to the end, but I'm not looking at the part, obviously. Do you have a good recording of the piece? Sometimes you can tell the instrumentation from listening.

The picc is alone until the end. I've performed that piece a couple of times in the past, and played the picc part. Unless there is some indication in your edition that they should enter, assume that they do not.

The solo goes to the end of the movement. Have fun playing it! The picc part is lots of fun, as I'm sure you already know.

You might want to check the dates on a post before you respond. This was a post from over 2 years ago! Just food for thought!
