Hello ~ I'm new!

Post by Ladyflute »

Hi - I happened to stumble across this great site
while surfing the net. How sweet it is to find a group of people who love the
flute as much as I! A little about myself...I am an "almost" 40 mother of three,
very happily married for 20 years, and have played the flute since 5th grade (I
dare not count up the years...yikes!) I also play the piccolo, alto flute, bass
flute, Irish Flute and pennywhistles. I am a member of our city''s very large
Flute Choir (the largest in the USA!), and have played for many years in my
church orchestra. I teach flute at home, and enjoy playing for special events,
weddings, ect... I am an avid gardener and have worked as a vet tech for years.
Being a "mom" and wife is my #1 joy, but playing my instruments comes in as a
very close second...lol. I have a wonderful, handsome & brave 19yr old son
serving in Iraq, a beautiful "flute-playing" 17 year old daughter, and a strong
and handsome 11 year old son. Thanks for letting me barge into your group - I
look forward to getting to know some of you, and gleaning from all your flute
knowledge! Blessings...

Hi Ladyflute! I'm fairly new to this board too. Does
your flute choir have a website? I play in one too in the Washington DC area and
I'm really curious about which one is the biggest in the country! I'd love to
learn more about your group!

Hi Gigihr ~ Thanks for the response! Here is the
website for our flute choir - we have about 50 members strong in the adult
choir. It's amazing what beautiful sounds can be produced with that many
players. We have many altos & bass flutes, piccolos, and have recently purchased
a contra bass flute. What a cool sound! We also have a smaller Chamber Choir,
and also large Jr.High and High School flute choirs. It's an honor to be a part
of this amazing group - I learn something at every rehearsal. Tell me more about
your group! I am curious to learn more about other flute choirs. Are you going
to Convention this year? Our Choir is playing at it, but I am unable to go.(huge
bummer!!) Do any of you own your own alto or bass flutes?? I don't, but
someday... :-) I look forward to hearing more about your flute choir - do you
have a website I can check out? Have a great day!
