Help! Double-Tonguing emergency

Post by fluting4HIm »

I have an orchestral audition in a week and a half for the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra. it's going to be really tough this year because there's only one spot opening up and the music is hard hard. One of the excerpts I have to play is Rimsky-Korsakov's Scherazade. I have to play it for both flute and piccolo. Has anyone played it before? The reason I ask is that I need advice on how to get it from quarter note=72 to 84. It doesn't seem that huge but it's HARD for me. Any advice on how to get that tempo up in such a short amount of time?

You really have to just start out slow. Take it slow at first, and then eventually start to go faster and faster. You will get it up to tempo eventually.

If you have a copy of the Recording, this will help A LOT! Listening to a piece will help you have a better understanding of it, even if you are playing just the flute part.
