My band has started working on the piece Jericho. I play second flute first chair within the seconds so I'm in the position for the solo. I was wanting to know if anyone is familiar with the piece. The solo on the last page starts on D3 and then goes to F#3. Is there any way fingering or technique that I can use to get the F# to respond better. Right now it is airy and weak.
Yeah... I learned that one the hard way. Most of the time I use the alternate fingering with R2 instead of R3. I can use either for it. I just don't know how to make it sound any better.
You might try fingering the F# with the middle finger of the right hand. In that register, it is normally more in tune with that fingering. Also, add your right pinky to the C# spatula (instead of the D# key). For me, this fingering produces a more in tune note with a fuller rounder sound.
