I have been working on Poem for a few months now for college auditions and solo and ensemble. Since I am getting the technical side pretty well now, I need to start working on the musicality (?). Usually, when I am working on a solo and I reach this step I start listening to a bunch of recordings and pull out different parts that I really like and use them in my own performance. I'm wonding if anyone has any recommendations as to which recordings I should listen to??
I have been listening to Laurel Zucker's recording and I like how she does some of parts, but the more... aggitated.. part she takes rather quickly and I like how it sounds... Im actually getting rather close to her speed, but an intructor told my I should play it "slow" even though there is an accel. written.
I'm hoping to find more recordings that will help me figure out how to deal with some of these sections... any opinions? =]

The only other recording I have heard [although I know that there are more] is a recording that Christina Jennings did. I like it quite a bit. But, then again, I am a bit biased. She is my favorite flutist. It is on her 2nd CD, the "Jennings-Johnson Duo."

Or check out the album of concertos by Alexa Still... she's great, and it sounds really zippy but yet musical.

How are you going about tackling the practice of of the Griffes anyway? I'm about to get started on it and have done a few play-throughs, but I can see how it would be easy to get it 'nearly there' and never quite 'totally there' to performance quality. Any tips?
