I''m playing a piece called Linkinshire posy and in it
are about eight measures of pure sextuplets, now, when I had a flute teacher,
she told me that the best way is to practice them slowly, and I''ve got it up
to speed at about 120 on the metronome, but it''s in triplets instead of
sextuplets, it''s only at 60 in sextuplets, how can I speed up my technique
without sounding horrid? Is there a better way for me to practice this because I
don''t have enough time to go through it everyday at the same metronome
setting. Thank you!

I think your teacher was right! While practising slowly,
what you are basically doing is getting your tongue muscles to memorize the
pattern. With time, it will be able to do it faster and faster, while still
sounding clean. You should practise at the speed at which you feel comfortable
playing this pattern. When you feel you are ready to move it up a bit, make the
metronome slightly faster. Eventually you will reach your desired speed. This
takes time and practice, so don't get discouraged.

Lincolnshire Posy??? My sister's band is playing that
song! Awesome.
song! Awesome.

I played that song last Saturday, It's extremely hard.
18 is easy enough but 19 gets harder. Just try to line up the downbeats, and be
careful of the rest in measure 21.
