Emerson 88B

Post by lzzchic »

Hi! This is my first post here. I was wondering if anyone can give me some information about the Emerson 88B? I am going to play test some flutes this weekend, and I have found info on this board about all of the other ones I am interested in, except for this one.

I know that it really comes down to me and which flute I decide I play best on (I even made up a chart to do blind play-tests with, my sister is coming with me-she now calls me her flute dork sister, lol), but I would just like to hear if anyone has any experience with it, good or bad. Thanks!! :D

Emersons are solid flutes. The 88B has the standard list of specs for an intermediate flute....Solid silver tubing, inline G, open hole, French pointed arms, B foot. If it comes out being your favorite, it should serve you well. Good luck shopping!

That's one of my most favorite flutes I've ever owned. 925 sterling silver...I think the tubing is a tad thicker than other brands. I managed to get a very dark rich sound out of that instrument and it carried me comfortably through highschool and college. Do try out flutes in person of course...the cut of the embouchure may not be right for you, but for me it worked well. I can also add that in general it seems like my emersons don't come out of alignment often. Sturdy instruments, indeed.

Thanks for the replies. I ended up getting a pearl quantz 665 with the CODA. I love it! I have never actually shopped for a flute before, my last one was a gift, and I was really surprised at all of the differences! This board helped me out a lot, so thanks again. :D
