Has anyone had the opportunity to play on this headjoint yet?
I'm just curious what everyone thinks of it compared to the EC.

I actually played two of these headjoints at the Florida Flute Fair this last weekend.
They're handcut so its going to be different for everyone. But, I personally didn't really care for them, I liked the EC a lot more than the K. It felt a bit similar to the EC when I played it, but the sound was different.

So the resistance feels (or lack thereof) feels about the same?DivaricationOfMind wrote:I actually played two of these headjoints at the Florida Flute Fair this last weekend.

It just has different tonal characteristics? How so?

the resistance is about the same, a little more free-blowing I think.
As far as tonal characteristics, I couldn't really tell you because I didn't get a good sound from it. The sound seemed a bit unfocused and fuzzy. On the EC it is more flexible and direct. But, you'd have to try it yourself to really know. The cut just didn't work for me. You might get completely different results.
While at the fair I didn't really get to hear many other people play on it, but the people I did hear on it, didn't seem to get a better sound on it than I did.
It wasn't really too popular.

I bought it through my teacher who actually helped designed it. For me upgrading to it from a CY cut [blahhhh] REALLY helped my projection. I love the headjoint, It is really capable of beautiful sound. It is new and my teacher and I discuseed that not all are exactly the same since its a rather new cut.
I am really pleased with it though. It just all depends on your preference though.
