Armstrong piccolo serial numbers

Post by vampav8trix »

Hi,

Does anyone know where you can find the serial numbers for the old Armstrong piccolos?

I have looked all over the web.

I have a really old Armstrong pic with a silver head that I got off of ebay. I suspect that the body is silver too because if it was plating and that old, I would think that some wear would be visible.

Anyhow it is serial number:N9865

Any ideas?

Thanks,

lana

Armstrong is now a division of Conn-Selmer. They have a serial number page here:

http://www.conn-selmer.com/content/reso ... rialno.php

As I interpret the table there, the "N" series of serial numbers falls somewhere between 1965 and 1970. I'm basing that on these entries:
Prefix "R" Series 1970
Prefix A,B,C (minus H, I, O, Q, W, Y & Z) 1965

I have an older Armstrong Model 80 flute in my collection and it's a G series serial number which seems to put it in that same range but probably a few years older.

Thanks.

I saw that but I am wondering if it is for piccolos too. I thought that it said flute. I didn't see piccolo mentioned.
