Opinions on Pearl

Post by dhootman64 »

Any opinions on Pearls - particularly a NC-97 I am looking for my beginning student. It is an older, discontinued model I know but some have said that older Pearls were unreliable and harder to repair/maintain. HELP - I'm a brass player!!!

I have personally found that older Pearl models are not as good as newer ones (prone to mechanical issues). I have also experienced intonation issues on older Pearls.

I have read the same. From what I hear, the metal alloys used in the earlier Pearls were soft and easy to bend. Thus, they needed frequent adjustments.

I did not like Pearl flutes till 2004! I do not know what they did that year, but it was huge!
