POWELL

Post by livinlife63 »

Hi everyone,

i'm looking into buying a new flute and would love everyones opinions.

ive tried burkart, muramatsua myazawa, powell and haynes.
so far the powell is probably my favorite although i loved the burkart. the Burkart was so responsive and easy to play, even though that might not be the best thing. the dynamics and articulation were great but it was too sweet for me. The powell on the other hand, was amazing too. It was great for me because it can handle all of the power where as the burkart didnt so much. I love the depth and the warm color that i get from the aurimite powell, but its a lot harder to play so that worries me a little.

any help please! im open to anyhting new also, but i would really love peoples opinions on the powell!
thank!

It sounds like you have decided. If the Powell sounds and responds the way you want, it is the right flute for you.

Keep in mind that an adjustment period is necessary with any flute, especially a handmade flute, so it will not always be easy to play right away.

Another option is to try the Burkart with a heavy wall headjoint. From experience, the heavy wall head seems to be willing to take a more powerful player and has a bit of an "edge" to it for some. Keep in mind that this is not necessarily across the board for everyone.

Either way, they are both great flutes.
