Which Flute should I get?

Post by billabongla »

I'm currently debating on which flute should I get. Please give me some advice! :)

Yamaha:
YFL-684H

Muramatsu:

DS Model.
SR Model.

please leave some advice as to which flute should I get. :) I'm thinking that this flute will be with me for my ABRSM Exams... Grade 8 and onwards. Also for Diploma...

THANKS! :)

Have you tried them? Essential. I like Muramatsu better, but that might not be right for you.

that's how the light gets in.

First, go read the FAQ thread in the General Hangout section. Next....

Go try them. We get this question almost every day, and the answer is always the same: Try the flutes out, and get the one you like the best.

Yesh. I have personally tried the Yamaha one, and the Muramatsu one also. but then the Muramatsu one's model is different. I tried the GX one...

I feel like that the Muramatsu has a nicer sound, and a warm tone.
The Yamaha flute also has a good sound (comparing to my student flute ><) but then, the tone is VERY DIFFERENT then the Muramatsu one.

Please ADVISE! THANKS! :)

Which one do you LIKE the best? Which one feels best in your hands, embouchure, etc? If you are simply stuck because you like both of them equally well, then keep playing them over and over, vary the music you are trying to see how well each flute does on different things. Does one jump octaves easier than the other; how about the high register tone quality, ease of production; is the dynamic range easier on one; that sort of thing. Then you have to make your decision based on what you want the most out the flute. Both are very nice flutes.

Good luck!
