I've had my flute in storage for about 6 months. When I last played it, it was in perfect condition and less than 2 years old. Just took it out this morning and the entire lower register doesn't work and the higher notes are very unclear (the middle register is not terrible but there is something not quite right). My tone was always really good and haven't not played for long enough to forget how so there must be something wrong with the flute! Would it be the pads that need replacing or...?? Please give me an idea of what could be wrong!
(It hasn't been roughly handled at all so it is unlikely that anything has been knocked out of place or that any screws could have come loose..)

Re: Notes not working after storage
Even in a temperature controlled environment, pads can shrink and swell due to the humidity, air temp., etc. Most likely, it is just out of adjustment due to these fluctuations. Any time a flute sits for a while, it will most likely need some adjusting in order to be in top shape again.

Also, the lubricant inside the mechanism got dry and hard.
Take the flute to a technician to a complete cleaning of the rods and to put new oil, and to adjust all the pads.
