bent or T head joint

Post by vickig »

Hello. I am hoping to find a way to play my flute again despite severe arthritis in my shoulders. I have heard of bent head joints; someone recently mentioned there are now are sort of "T" head joint or way to play with the instrument straight down. I am in the Boston area - if anyone could point me in some direction for either of these or any other solution- either mail order or actual person/place or general info about this subject, I would be appreciative. I love my current flute and would hope to not have to buy an entire new instrument. Also, I would want to try this out to see if it would really work for me. Thank you.

Sounds like you are referring to a Drelinger UpRite head joint. They are pricey (5k) new, although flutastic.com has a used one for sale for just under 3K. I am not associated with flutastic.com at all, other than I have bought a flute from her in the past and was pleased with the transaction.
