Does anyone know where I can get a leightweight flute case

Post by jbstrong »

I would like to get a case/holder for my yamaha flute that is as light and causes as little bulk as possible. I have searched extensively but so far have not been at able to find anything at all! Would anybody be able to offer any suggestions?

Have you considered bubblewrap?

Seriously, though, for lightweight and little bulk, there are not a lot of options for cases. If you get something too thin, it may not adequately protect your flute. For that reason, I would not put a flute in a lightweight, soft-side case.

I strongly recommend a Pro-Tec slimline. At $48.99 shipped, it's a great deal for a b-footjoint flute.
c footjoint will also fit, but the footjoint will not fill the space. We have this case in black and it's the best -- nice, snug fit, great protection, classy look, lightweight. http://www.music123.com/Woodwinds/Woodw ... 98.product

It's a flute case--how much lighter do you really need it to be? I mean-try carrying around a tenor sax for awhile!

If the case is going to be inside a piece of luggage or backpack, then a french style professional case is as small as they come.
I personally would still use a case cover over that to protect the flute.
