I play the flute for 14 years now and I really enjoy it, I'm not a natural but I'm not bad either. And I love making music. All those years I played on a simple yamaha flute and it was fine. But I am ready for something better.
Today I tried out some flutes and at first I found a pearl 795 RBE, I really liked the sound of it, it was light but had a warm sound. This one costet 2300 (euro). Then I tried a muramatsu ex rhe and I found that the pearl had more character but that the muramatsu played easier. I went to this other store, there they also had the pearl 795 RBE and I still liked it, but they also had the muramatsu ex 91 and I fell in love with this last one. The fact was that this last one costet 3350 (euro) wich is 350 over my maximum budget.
When I asked the man in the store he said that he didn't knew the difference between a muramatsu ex rhe and a muramatsu ex 91. He said he thought that maybe the 91 was just an older model. But how can it be that in the first store I chose the pearl over the muramatsu and in the second store I chose the muramatsu over the pearl?
So my question to you is, what is the difference between a muramatsu ex rhe and a muramatsu ex 91. And if you had to choose between a pearl 795 RBE and a muramatsu ex wich one would you choose? the price difference is almost 1000. The pearl is made of interily silver and the muramatsu only has a silver head. And the pearl is a lot cheaper and whithin my budget.
maybe you could give me some advice or information to make my choise a little bit easier!

I actually own a Muramatsu EX. The strange thing I saw in your case is that I have never heard of an EX 91 nor of an EX rhe model. Mine is EX III, because it's the third generation of the EXs. But this is how it's called in the USA, maybe in Europe Muramatsu uses some other naming system. I'm sure if you ask the factory in Japan they will give you the right info.
About your choice, in spite of the fact that I really love my EX-III (it's my backup flute), I think if you liked the Pearl, and it's in your budget, stay with it. Choosing a flute is not a very simple situation. Sometimes it's really tricky. In the States, people have the opportunity of staying with a few flutes (say, 5 different models) for a week, and just return the ones (or all of them...) they didn't like and just pay for the one they choose. Some companies are specialized in sending instruments to ones home!
