Piccolo Question

Post by Kaylyn »

Hi all,

I have an old Gemeinhardt "C" model piccolo that I recently bought. My issue is that when I hold it, this part:

Digs into my hand. I am not a very experienced piccolo player and was wondering if I should work on changing my hand position when I play it, or if there's something I could put on/over this piece to make it more comfortable to play? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you!!!

Go to your local pharmacy and buy a package of Dr. Scholls Moleskin. (about $5) It is also available in generic brands. Basically, it is a self adhesive foam that is covered with a felt-like material. Use scissors to cut a piece to cover the piccolo crutch. (that's the name of the part that contacts your first finger). The Moleskin is removable and won't hurt a metal piccolo.
