Azumi AZ3 vs Pearl Elegante 795-BRE Coda

Post by isaiahwu »

Hi Guys! :)

So I've been doing some flute hunting for a very high intermediate/low professional flute and I came up with two models that stood out to me. Azumi AZ3 and Pearl PF-795RBE Coda.

Here are some details about them both:

Azumi AZ3- retail around $3200
http://www.azumiflutes.com/

Sterling Silver (.925) handcut Z-CUT Altus headjoint, sterling silver body, silver plated keys, French (open hole), pointed key arms, stainless steel springs, Altus/Bennett scale, inline or offset G, B footjoint

Pearl PF-795RBE Coda
http://pearlflutes.com/elegante.html

Handcut sterling silver Forza headjoint with solid 10K gold lip plate, sterling siler body and footjoint, silver plated keys, French (open hole), pointed key arms, drawn tone holes, offset G, split E mechanism, C# trill, D# roller, B footjoint, A=442

Is buying a used instrument online a bad idea? Also, the Pearl model is a lot more expensive than the Azumi. Is Pearl overall a better brand/more reliable than Azumi? Quality? I'm a pretty advanced player and don't have enough for a $10K pro flute and my budget is $3000. Are there any other suggestions?

Thanks so much!
