Hello all,
I've bought a used Muramatsu flute with a S.N. # 2253 on its neck. I would like to know its age. There are two things make me felt suspicious about my flutes. First, the location of the flute made is TOKYO, seems not the same as other Muramatsu flutes. Second, the head joint of the flute does not have any trademark of Muramatsu on it! There is only a number 466 on the head joint and also the foot joint. Did I buy a fake flute? Please help! Thanks a lot.

Re: Age of a used Muramatsu flute
Maybe if you contacted Muramatsu America they would be able to help you?
I can tell you that my headjoint is marked with a hallmark and the model (EX) is on the body and precedes the serial number. There are no numbers on my headjoint. However, mine is the only Muramatsu I have seen in person and so maybe the older models are labeled differently? Mine was made in 2002.
Good luck; I hope you get some information that helps you out in authenticating your flute!
