How to recognize Miyazawa head joint type?

Post by amir »

Hi, I have an old Miyazawa pa 201R for sale, and some people asked me about the head joint cut but on the head joint is not indicated anything related to the head joint, and the only thing written is the material (925). Does anybody have an idea how i can know the head joint type.
Thanks!

Look on the lip plate. Quite a few of their older models had a number engraved on the side of the lip plate, or on the underside. But that's not always been the case. My Miyazawa has an MZ7 head on it, and there's a number 7 on the outer right hand side of the lip plate. I used to have an MZ8, and it had an 8 in the same location.

Thanks, you are right, there is a very small and unclear engraving that I haven't noticed. It's written 3B so it should be MZ-3B which I don't find among new Miyazawa head joint styles.
thank you very much!
