I was just wondering what a good piccolo brand is that sells
all metal piccolos I could use for marching band. I got one for las year to see
if I could play it and it was soo bad. It was very flat and very hard to play
*like you had to blow a lung out to hit a 3rd octave F* So I don''t wish to
repeat this again, so any suggestoins would help! Thanks! O yea and also on the
cheaper 6-700 dollar range would be helpful since I''m only a highschool
student..[:p]

play on the Gemeinhardt 4SP (silver-plated student model) and have been for two
years. Even after having a fall on cement (concrete? I can't remember), it's
still playing well after repair. Although there is talk that Gemeinhardt
piccolos aren't recommended, I recommend them. I'd like to try out the solid
silver piccolos, instead, but plated worked well enough. From using it in my
early junior high days, the 4SP served well as a beginner piccolo. With your
budget, I got my 4SP for aroun $850. You can probably get them at a cheaper
price these days. Best of luck searching for your piccolo!

I would also recommend the 4SP. They are very hardy piccolos
and I know mine hit the ground more than once during my marching band days in
junior high and high school. However, I do feel a little old because I got mine
about 9 years ago for $450. So, you may be able to find a used one for around
the price range that you have in mind.
