Wunderlich flute

Post by Masters7 »

I am very familiar with this maker. I played on a Wunderlich for nine years. Basically, these were "handmade" instruments. Most parts were made in the Czech Republic, but "fine tuned," assembled, and sold out of Berlin. Wunderlich was associated to Oscar Adler in the early 20th century. The scale can be good on some, and not so good on others. Mine played well at A-440 and had a B-foot.

oh thanks!

I've bought this Wunderlich flute on ebay...

it's in optimal conditions...but I'm not satisfied of the custom lip plate (it was made by "Gebr. M." but I don't know who is!!!)
It's really hard for me, to play with it! it's too big and large for my taste!

so... now I'm searching someone who could replace the lip plate!
do you suggest me some headjoint maker in Europe that could help me?

thanks

Headjoint makers

Howell Roberts, Robert Bigio, and Flute Makers Guild can make great headjoints for your flute. I've played heads by each, and they all do excellent work. Have fun!!!

I've sent some e.mails to these headjoint makers. (I hope they will answer me soon)

Another question...
my Wunderlich Flute was made 20 years ago.
do you know how much would cost to acquire this flute new?
(its used value is about 1000 $)

thanks

Well, as far as I could find out, Wunderlich were based in the Martkneukirchen area of Germany which is the area for musical instruments. They don't seem to exist any more, although Adler are now part of Gebruder Mönnig (http://www.moennig-adler.de/), which may be what the "Gebr. M" on your lipplate stands for.

According to their website, they don't make flutes so there is no new price to compare yours with.

I hope this helps.

thank you! you are very helpful!
now my flute is in Ireland...
Raymond Robinson has my flute to make an headjoint for it.

I've other 2 different Robinson wood headjoints (for silver flute) and I absolutely LOVE them! They are my favourite!

I will post some pics..when works will be finished!

:) Hello,
I also have a beautiful A. Wunderlich wooden (grenadilla) flute (Wernitzgrün) and am looking for any information on its history. If anyone has any more information, please post. Thank you.
