Powell Flutes
Does anyone know if there is a difference between the arumite and solid silver headjoints from Powell?
When I bought my last flute, I tried a variety of headjoints. The stock headjoint was solid silver (a Powell). I played an arumite headjoint with a 14k riser (which I believe had the same cut) and the difference was very noticable. Even the non-musically trained people in the room noted a big difference. The arumite headjoint was really the finest of all the ones I tried, so it's the one I bought, and I've been quite happy with it. It's hard to describe what headjoints play like using words, but the sound of my arumite headjoint is larger and warmer than that of the silver head. As you might expect, the way it plays is somewhere between solid silver and solid gold. You really must try a headjoint to see what it's like, but I do recommend you try both arumite and silver if you like Powell headjoints.
P.S. For those of you that aren't arumite, it's a kind of tubing with gold on the inside and silver on the outside, made only by Powell.

I have tried the arumite headjoints and it is a big difference between the two. Are the arumites all hand made or are they factory made like the Sonare' Powell headjoint?
