I was just having a convo with a lady about how demons. SHe was making comments about how demons look...lol The fact is looks are our biggest enemy. She does not realize that things that expose themselves are far less dangerous than things that mask themselves as something that looks good. This is definitely true with instruments. Purple flutes match your shoes, but it may not sound or play as good as an old tarnished Haynes.

I personally like the looks of the flute. I have been looking(just looking) at these flutes for a while but could never find a recording of one. So I am waiting.

I had a student who before coming to me bought a very pretty flute with gold and engraving, etc, etc. I have to admitt, it was quite beautiful, but she never really sounded fantastic on it. Unfortunately, after about three months it became a nightmare to deal with and needed constant adjusting. Being a name brand flute (which I won't get into) I was quite shocked. Anyway, she finally got frustrated and I talked her into buying a used handmade flute that was in great shape, but was just not as pretty. Now, she does not care and she sounds AMAZING! I honestly believe that the other flute was a hindrance to her new mature sound. I could care less what a flute looks like as long as it sounds good. I sold my beautiful gold flute because the flute I found (a vintage Haynes) blew it away! I have never looked back.

Well said, Fluttiegirl! It's great if you can end up with a flute that you think is gorgeous, but far more important that you have a flute that lets you SOUND gorgeous. I'm a big fan of the sound of old French flutes (Louis Lots, Bonnevilles, Godfroys, etc.), but many of them are less than attractive.

It was a joke to be taken lightly....everyone else found it funny. I was only talking about the looks of it...nothing more. I just find it rather strange looking...just my opinion.

Hahahahah....yes it's me. LOL...I changed it to a more appropriately goofy picture so that people will know i'm just kidding around

Although it would be an interesting experiment....cut out eye holes and lip holes and viola....can you imagine the reaction of an audience with someone playing a romatic french piece with a bag over their head? Priceless!

Sorry to revive this almost year-old thread, but I got a chance to try a Grenaditte Flute at the florida flute fair and thought I'd share my experience with them.

I actually like them a lot, it was a big awkward at first because it was so light-weight. It felt really flimsy and breakable in my hands. But, then I played with it a bit, and got a very nice tone very similar to wooden flutes. I also liked the mechanism, it was a great flute, and for the price definitely worth considering as a substitute for a wooden flute.

I'm on day 3 with my grenaditte and couldn't agree more with Limuhead's post. It's light, nimble, responsive and the sound just blew me away. There's a ton of music that doesn't benefit from the 'shimmer' of the silver flute so it's good to have options! I had put my flute down for several years and am relearning now; this flute is making that process less frustrating. Besides all that it looks pretty cool. Absolutely love it!!!
