Purchasing a flute for daughter

Post by ALD68 »

My daughter has been playing the flute for four years and is interested in upgrading her instrument. I have no idea where to begin. She currently plays a Yamaha Advantage. Any suggestions?

Sure. Take a look at the FAQ on this site:

See the section on intermediate level flutes. There's lots of good information and advice on how to buy a flute!

Read through it and if you still have questions, post them here. We'll be glad to try to assist you.

Just make sure that at the end of the day she gets a chance to try it before you buy it.

Answering some of these Qs might help:
How old is she? What are her current flute requirements/ school orchestral commitments, youth orchestral commitments? etc
What are her goals/intentions? music major, conservatory goals?
What did the (good) teacher suggest?
What is the budget?

The saying goes that a good flutist can make any flute sing. I admittedly am a hardware enthusiast who believe in any help I can get.
Only to find the "help" comes from within. That is how good one is.
