1973 Gemeinhardt M3S offset G-key

Post by harperkidzmom »

I am interested in learning the value of this flute. I am the original owner; used it during junior high, high school & college. Great condition.

Gemeinhardts generally are not worth a great deal used. Even brand new ones fitting that description usually sell in the 500-1500, and as your flute is relatively old, it is likely to have a somewhat unusual scale to it (making it more difficult to play in tune), and the fact that it is used will detract from value. How well it was maintained (will the pads need replacement? Will it require a COA or overhaul?) will also play into the value. The comparable flutes I've seen from Gemeinhardt (roughly the same age, and same features as the M3S) sold for a couple hundred dollars tops, so I would not expect much more than that. Hope some of that helps!

A good repair tech in a music store will usually take a look at it and appraise it for free, if there's one in your area.
