Looking for more info. on an Armstrong Alto Flute 8-3040.

Hello! This is my first time to post. I am hoping you all can help me out. I just purchased an Armstrong Alto Flute at an auction. I've never tried an Alto before and thought it would be fun. I can't seem to find any information on the one I bought. The head joint says "Silver Head". At the top of the Main Body it says "Armstrong Elkhart Ind. 8-3040". I can't seem to find any info. on this number. It is a straight head joint. Has a blue lined case. Outside of case is black with a thick brown leather strip that says Armstrong in Black.
I paid $85 for it. Does anyone know if this was a good deal and any ideas on what year this is from? It does have a few scratches and needs a good polishing but seems to play well so far.
