Demise of the Sonare SP500 piccolo?

I went to my local flute dealer here in Toronto to look at piccolos, primarily the YPC-32 (Yamaha) and the Sonare SP500. I was told that the Sonare is no longer being made! Does anyone know why?

Production issues (that is what I was told). I have also been told that they will produce them at some point in the future at a different factory (could be hearsay).

I just bought one a few months ago cheap, and I really like it. Much more than the flutes.
