Flute Plating

I went into a Long & McQuade store the other day to try out some flutes because I am looking to upgrade from a beginner flute and asked the associate about the silver plating on flutes. I asked if silver plating meant that the interior of the flute tube is also silver plated or if it just meant the "exterior" of the flute - because then I feel like maybe there wouldn't be much of a difference having a silver plated flute as opposed to a solid silver flute if any exposed surface of the flute (including the inside of the tube) is just plated. He didn't know the answer, but I imagine someone on this forum would!

Silver plated flutes are normally plated inside and out. If fact, it would take the manufacturer extra work to prevent the inside being plated.

The main difference between plated an sterling silver flutes are that sterling silver is more expensive so the makers take greater attention to details and that means the quality is greater. Professional-level sterling silver flutes are handmade and therefore more costly because of the higher quality of work.
