Alto and bass flutes

I am interested in getting an alto, or bass flute within the next year. I currently play concert flute, have played some piccolo (but don't like piccolo). The thing that worries me about getting an alto flute is it being in the G key. Is it going to be hard for me to find music to play and am I going to get stuck having to transpose a lot of music? At the same time, the alto flute seems a lot more manageable of an instrument to play compared to the bass flute.
