Flutes in Bb

Post by Dirk Zeylmans »

Hi,
I'm new here & this is my first post. I was wondering if anyone had played a bB flute & how good was it. I hear they are called flute d'amour. I see that altus make one , are there any other makers known who do as well?
Thanks all....

I in fact haven't EVER seen one, and I wish that I have! I love the harmony instruments and play them whenever I get a legitimate chance to. I once had a concert where I played several different flutes and had to have someone help me get all of them on stage! :D

My favorite low flute so far is the Kotato double contrabass flute! Three octaves below the concert flute. They had one on display at the NFA Convention in Anaheim this year (one of four in the world). I got to play it, and it was awesome! I have pics if anyone is interested. ;)
