Hi, recently when I have been playing my flute I''ve
noticed that when the "F" key is pressed, the key to the right of it goes down
also but just a little bit and wasn''t really affecting my playing. Today I
felt in the mood to play so I took out my flute and tried to play and saw that
the two keys to the right of the "F" both were going down and all the way now. I
can''t play anything, and it''s really making me mad because I have concert
fesitval in two weeks. Is this something that me or my director could fix, or do
i need to bring it to the shop? Thanks in advance, Jenn

if i'm understanding correctly, a key/some keys are
going down that shouldn't? maybe you have a loose screw or a screw that's too
tight. i'd suggest bringing it in the shop so that you get the problem fixed
the right way. (not that i'm saying your band dir. can't fix it, but better to
be safe than sorry!)

I will probably take your advice and bring it into
the shop tommorow sometime after school, I think the messed up keys is a result
of my teacher trying to fix something and then breaking another. Hopefully I can
get everything working soon. Thanks for replying, Jenn

Hi, If I'm understanding you right, you're trying
to play middle F and the keys towards the foot of the flute are moving? If
that's the case, the EXACT same thing happened to me. Take it to a shop and
have them put some oil inside of the rods. This fixed mine, but it might be more
serious. If it's binding because of rust or whatever, then they'll have to
clean it out and stuff and that's like $50 I think. Hope this helps!

well i got my flute back yesterday, like 3 days
before it was supposed to be done. everything was looking and sounding really
good until i looked at the pad that was supposed to be replaced and found out
they replaced the wrong pad. and after i payed 50 dollars to get it fixed too,
so i dont know what to do cause i really dont think my mom would be too happy if
she had to bring it back and pay more money. well, i hope i figure something

you know what, if they fixed the wrong thing then
they should correct that free of charge. it wasn't your fault so you shouldn't
be able to pay for it.. so just bring it back and tell them they fixed the wrong
key, show them what needs to be done, and hopefully they won't charge you for
it. good luck!

Exactly, most of the instrument repair places I've
been to have been really good about fixing things, but everyone makes mistakes
and they are usually happy to fix their mistakes for free usually. I'm not sure
about them where you are though, cause I'm not there, lol. Good luck and I'm
sure you'll be able to get that repaired! -Abby
