Looking for a really good flute!
I am looking for a flute that will get me thru high school and will possibly be my flute for life. My price range is $3K and lower, and i want to get the most for my money. Any suggestions?

There are several other posts on this matter, but I will say that I highly recommend the Muramatsu EX model which should run somewhere under $3000. There are many other great flutes out there, but this one seems to stick out in my mind for the price. Just be sure to play many flutes before you decide on one. I even recommend playing several of the same model once you have narrowed it down. Good luck and have fun!

Yes, the EX is really good. I would reccommend looking at some hand made flutes [ used maybe?] because the qualitiy is typically much higher than a manufactured flute. So, give these companies a try
Murmamatsu,
Miyazawa
Pearl
Yamaha
Armstrong
Gemeinhardt
Trevor James
Altus
Sonare
Amadeus
And there are many more out there, I just cant think of any at the moment.... But, continue to browse the board. There are TONS of threads like this one, and I can assure you that they will be helpful.

one more to the list.
Along with the good list that was posted earlier.... if you haven't bought already I would recommend the Haynes Classic Q1--- there is a model that is under $3k ($2450), and can be had with a 14K gold riser and C# trill key, both for another $600, which would bring you just over your intended budget ($3050).
They are very new instruments-- let me know either on or off list if you have trouble obtaining one.
