yeah, the nerds probably turn out better... but thats cuz hardly anyone liked them & all they had time to do is study. I went to school with someone i was the only person who would talk to him. pretty sad.

though the jocks im glad probably will have nothing come of their lives. its what they get for putting me/music down! lol.

Okay so I am kind of advocating for a single standard...if we don't want jocks and preps and the like to keep bashing us then one thing that we can do is to stop bashing them. Yeah maybe they have made/ are making/ or will make our lives miserable but lets not sink to their level.

I'm aware that this is really idealistic and in the end it probably will never happen but I suppose that its kind of like world peace (merely using as an example of another idealistic concept) someone has to start the movement and if we aren't willing to then who will...

I could go on about this subject. Being labled "nerd" "geek" "freak" "stupid" "abnormal" and any other various titles is no fun for anyone, not us, not cheerleaders, not smart kids, not kids who have disabilities, not anyone

I am not trying to offend anyone and I appologize if I did this is my opinion...please take it as that.

End Rant.

ok this is really weird but its true.in my highschool band is actually kinda cool. love my school cause its not like most others and your social status only depends on you and not what you do.so if you have an interest in band no one makes funof you for it. i have friends who jokingly call me a bandgeek cause i can't do anything with them that weekend because of a band festival or something.band is more "popular" than cheerleading which is weird.i feel bad cause everyone makes fun of the cheerleaders. i personally don't like alot of them because of their attitude towards everyone whos not on the squad but thats just my opinion.

now this is how it should be absolutely everywhere! in a school setting anyway, it should depend only on you. who you are inside. and thats it.

But it is like that. Be strange and do not care what people think. First people will start to copy you, then others will start hanging out. My son is 13. When I gave my son this advice, it worked like a charm. He has his own click now...lol

I was like that. Up until 6th grade, I didnt have any friend problems. But then.... people found out that I had been playing the flute for a year.... so then I was a 'nerd'. So, for that year I tried my best to please them. Afterwards, I decided if they wont accept me for who I was, I wasnt going to waste my time.

It worked like a charm, and suddenly I had many true friends that I still talk to a lot.

lol, this is a rather funny topic.

There are several ways to put it... at least in my school

Band Geek: Normal Band Student who is just an avverage band member.

Band Nerd: someone who is in band but every class he/she has is honors or AP

Band Whore (or Music Whore): someone who does nothing BUT band... and Orchestra... and chorus... They usually do everything, from doing 6 ensembles, 3 solos, for festival (someone did that this year) to being the best player of whatever instrument you play

and at my school we also have Corps Dorks... because we don't have a marching band but a Drum Corps :P
