I'm getting a new flute! My private teacher told me to order 4 flutes from fluteworld... just wanted your opinon on them.

They're all solid enough (but very different) instruments. The Yamaha will not play much differently than the 200 series Yammies, as the headjoint is the same cut (the CY cut), but in silver. Within the Yamaha series, if you want a noticeable difference from the 200's, you have to buy a 500 or higher, where the EC cut becomes the standard. Yamaha does have a number of different cuts available, though, so if wherever you're buying from will allow it, try out different cuts to see what suits you best. When you get your hands on the Sonare, give it a careful once over....I have a friend out in New York that bought an early model, and it had a tonehole that hadn't been rolled properly, which was damaging the pad everytime he played. I couldn't say whether this type of thing has happened on other instruments, but it's a big enough mistake (IMHO) that I would check the instrument carefully before buying it in case the same thing or something equally troublesome should have occurred with the flute you got. Good luck trying them all out, though. Let us know what you think of them! 
And don't feel like you have to choose one of those four. There are other makes and models selling in about the same price range that may suit you better, so don't settle!

Of the flutes you listed I have only tried the Almadeus. The one I played played well- the mechanism was a wee bit stiff, it was reasonably well built, intonation good. In the set I tried I like the Pearl Quantz a little better but that is personal taste perhaps.
Why doesn't your teacher want you to touch or hold them?? You have more patience than I , I would be playing the heck out of all of them right away. Good luck with your search.

Well I tried them all out with my teacher. The Yamaha was almost instantly first pick
I sounded WAY too airy on the Jupiter... didn't like the way it responded with any notes. It was just horrible for me.
The Amadeus I sounded less airy than the Jupiter, but it was still pretty airy. Some ntoes were hard to get out. The Lower register especially.
The Sonare was less airy than the Amadeus... I liked the way how the keys were quick and springy... but some notes were still hard to get out.
The Yamaha overall just beat all of them. The other three all had rather square cuts in the hole (part where you blow, can't remember what it's call ><) but the Yamaha was more ciricular... I guess that was it.

Yeah, your experiences are in line with the ones I have had with the same instruments. It is too bad you are limited to only these 4 choices. My comments are just my opinion, and are not to be used as a guide for YOUR choice.
Yamaha 361 Easy to play on, great sound, but I did not care for the head joint. I guess you just have to be into the CY headjoints. The EC headjoints are way better and more versitile in my opinion. But that does not make it a bad instrument. I wound up buying a Yamaha 514 which had the EC headjoint.
My second choice would have been the Jupiter711. I did not get an Airy sound, but I did have to play on it for 15 minutes before I got a decent sound out of it. But when I did, OH MAN! If I were you, I would play on it for a while and see if your opinion changes....it might!
The Amadeus has a great headjoint, but the body and mechanism is just OK. I could not justify paying what they ask for one of those. This headjoint is another one that you should play on for a while before you jump to a conclusion about the "Airy" sound. I like the way the flute sounded, it just did not feel like 1500-2000 dollars(The ones I tried).
The Sonare is a tease like the Amadeus. Great heajoint with an OK mechanism.
It is too bad you did not try a Pearl, an Azumi, or a Trevor James. For the same price, you may have like them better. I know I did
I am just giving my views for the sake of convo. Noticed I waited till you tried the flutes out before I gave my opinion. I think it is very important that you have your own experiences.
