How to build up lung power

Post by BlackSakura »

Hello all!
I have recently started playing again and I need some advice on the proper way to rebuild my lung power.

On a side note: A few years a ago I "lost" BOTH my flutes and one of my piccolos. I will not go into the dumb story on that one but suffice it to say I was sad. Anywho, the other week I bought a new flute - so happy. Because of circumstance it happen to be a Yamaha 574. I am happy with it. =) I just thought I would share this with some folks who may share in my joy. ^_^

I learned a tip from an instructor one time. Cut the top off of a plastic bottle, making a funnel-like thing. Breathe through it whenever you get the opportunity. It forces you to take deep breathes and increases your lung capacity slightly.

You could also do what I did to increase lung capacity- join the track team for a year :D .
