Playing In Tune?

For some odd reason or another, I cannot get my flute to stay in tune. Is this because I'm not breathing correctly?

My flute was examined about a month ago before the time when I first had this problem.

I've only had this problem twice or three times, I think. I've only had it recently. And I've been playing teh flute for ...4 years? But it's in the public school system, as I don't have private lessons.

The first time I understood why I couldn't, as I was exhausted and could not maintain a steady airstream. The second time (today) was odd, as it seemed to be for a second, then wasn't. The B flat sound like it was in tune, but then I played a G and that was horribly off.

...Grarg. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

You might actually be tired and not know it.

Did you put on any tingly lip balm? It might have made your lips swell. There are a lot of tingly lip balms out there.

If I play a lot, my lips get tired and start shaking and makes my tone vibrate.

Try resting for a day.

Hello, new here, first post. 2yrs ago I returned to the flute after a 30 year break...it was a long lunch, I guess. I've been studying on my own during this time and have benefitted greatly from internet postings!

Tks, vampav8trix, for the tingly lip balm tip-off. I've been using a lip gloss that may have that "plumping" effect....my lips felt fatter, but couldn't wrap my mind around why that would be so.
