Wrist Pain/Swelling

Post by wsFltePicmb09 »

I have been practicing a lot the past few months because I am in several different groups, plus I am preparing for college auditions and Solo and Ensemble.

About a week ago, I stopped practicing because of pain in my wrists (this has happened on several occasions) and realized my wrists were swollen... now my wrists and hands are swollen and there is slight bruising on one hand. I haven't done anything to them so I'm not sure why this is happening... I have had to cut way back on my practicing and my auditions are just days away!

I am wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this when practicing too much?

I've had some mild tendonitis, but not so bad as yours. You might try RICE: Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. That is what doctors usually recommend. Give it a try, but if it doesn't get better in a few days, see a doctor.
