Choosing a Memorial Service Piece

Post by Moss »

Hi everyone! I am new here... I think I might have come here a little bit a while ago, but I can't remember what my username was and my email address from back then is gone.

Anyway, I am going to be playing for my Anatomy Department's memorial service and I am having trouble choosing a piece. My main problem is that the head of the music department and I have very different taste. Last year I wanted to play Debussy's Syrinx, but he thought that was too avant garde. He suggested a slow movement of a Mozart concerto, but I thought they would be inappropriate! In the end I started a new job on the day of the service and didn't play at all. This year I will definitely be playing, so I need to start thinking of suggestions now before I get too frustrated with him. He is an organist and can't really see past things like Bach pieces. I love Syrinx, Fantasie Pastorale Hongrois, Poulenc, Griffes, Schubert...

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Oh, I figured out my old name! This is Moss... I think I will use my original name, though.
