My name is Will and I have just joined here. I live
in Scotland, UK, and played my first flute today for 25 years (used to play as a
child). Bought a nice shiny Yamaha 211 in a Glasgow music shop after trying it
out. Loved it. Looking forward to chatting here and getting good advice and
tips. [:)]

Hi Jess - Thanks for your welcome message [:)] I
have been practising since getting my new flute and yes, I love it still. At the
moment, I am trying to work out a practice schedule including scales, set
pieces, long tones and movement between registers (I am finding it difficult to
get the notes of the second registers so if anyone has any tips, I am all
ears!). I also want to make sure that I set myself musical goals so that I have
something to aim for and achieve. I really want to find a local flute teacher -
having been away for so long, I need an independent and trained ear to help me
along. But there seem to be very few around here. So if anyone knows of a good
flute teacher in Glasgow, Scotland, please let me know.. Will
