Places To try Flutes in NY

I am looking for a place where I can try flutes out in the state of NY. I have heard of the Flute Center of NY in new York city and checked out their website and they look like a pretty good business.

I am looking to buy a flute but have no idea what i want so I am looking for a place that offers a wide variety of flutes, along with a lot of knowledge about the differences in the flutes.

I live in Central New York, but am looking for anywhere either in New York State, or even no more than 5 hours from Syracuse.

I know the flute convention is being held in NYC this year, but I am not able to attend unfortunatly.

Any suggestions and reccomendations are greatly appreciated.
