Looking for advice: Selling flutes, values, etc.

Post by m3the01 »

So ive got a few flutes, i dont suggest this. LOL.

However the faqs are im going to sell one or two of them even though they are great flutes,

The Pearl is about 6 months old, but i have since upgraded, but how to value it?

Literally one of the best flutes i have ever played,

Pearl 795 RBE CODA offset G, standard features, c# trill, d# roller, split-e, etc.

Where would be a good place to list it? On ebay/internet the cheapest i have found it for is $2700.00. This is not a blemish model and carries full warranty from pearl, which can be verified. Everything is mint, and like all recent pearl flutes, shouldnt need any service for a long time.

Im also temped to sell my first flute, Yamaha 225 II. Cause it just sits there,

Any advice would be welcome,

Thanks!!!

Amazon?

Post by flutepower »

Hey m3the01,
Why not sell on amazon? Amazon is more trusted then ebay is, and I bought my flute from amazon as well. Here is a site that should help you.
I'm not so sure how this works, so please research this if interested.

I'm not sure if this is what you want - so sorry if I misread your question

Hope this helps ,

I would not necessarily say that Amazon is more trusted than ebay. It is just another outlet. I have sold on both and found that I not only got more money for the instruments on ebay, but that the buyers were more educated and asked questions which led me to believe they knew what they were buying. This in turn led to more payoff in the end. Just something to think about.

Thanks a lot, any thoughts on what to list them for?

The pearl is mint and the yamaha is what it is a student flute, plays well though and doesnt leak.

$2699 gets free shipping and same feature set, through wwbw, plus 45-day return policy, for that Pearl, new.

This exact model on ebay (US) might not even sell new for $2200.

You can unload a Yamaha student model fairly easily, ebay or elsewhere.

Do a completed-auction search for "yamaha 225*", you'll see what to expect. Quite a wide spread on ebay....

The Elegante Coda that I purchased cost me 2,072.00, in slightly used condition, through wwbw.com with a 45 day return policy.

Great flute. What have you upgraded to?

Sorry I have the coda model not the regular 795. Slightly more expensive.

Yeah seems to go for a good spread, I saw one go for $2400 used on eBay last week so give me a place to start my auctions.

Thanks,

as for the ugrade, I'm demo'ing a 9701 thick wall, offset g, split e, calore headjoint with platinum rise and 14k lipplate in a couple weeks.

I was going to go for just the headjoint but pearl worked me out a good deal and as always has been extremely considerate of my difficult schedule and has arranged while I'm in a conference in Boston to Demo the flute for a full week.

Very excited, there is a video of Nina on YouTube demo'n almost the same flute.

Actually, I do have the Coda model, 10k lip plate,... all the xtras. I got a good deal on it... I think you posted on the thread that I started, wondering which flute to keep, Yamaha or Pearl. Still deciding. It would be hard to send back the Elegante Coda because of the mere fact that it was such a good deal.

Wow! You certainly are upgrading. Good luck with the demo. Post and let us know how you like the Maesta/Calore headjont. The headjoint alone must be $$$!

Well....I'm fairly Pearl illiterate tho' I'm sure I'd be delighted with even a new 505...

If Pearl took your flute in on the trade-up, excellent! Far better than dealing with the denizens of flea-bay...
