My Recital
Hi everyone.
So, I haven't been on here all that much lately. It's mostly been because I've been preparing for a recital (and battling a very bad case of carpal tunnel **see my blog for details about that**). My recital was this past monday (April 26th). My program included:
Winter Spirits by Katherine Hoover
E Minor Sonata by JS Bach
Cantabile et Presto by Georges Enesco
Charanga by Michael Colquhoun
and.....
Chant de Linos by Andre Jolivet.
Because of my carpal tunnel flaring up I wasn't able to get as much practice as I wanted, and this definitely wasn't the most prepared I've ever been for a recital. The Jolivet DEFINITELY wasn't the cleanest that I had ever played it. Furthermore this was my first ever solo recital, so I was really nervous.
Does anyone want to hear the recordings? I can post them on my myspace and post a link if anyone is interested.

I will work on getting them up. My myspace page is set up so that you do not have to have an account to listen or view the page. It is completely public. I just now accessed it with a link only (no signing in). I will also work on trying to get some on Youtube on my 'official' youtube channel. (I have one that is only for private use... I don't upload anything there).

Add me also to the list of people who want to hear your recital. Don't worry too much about the Jolivet for now. That is a beast for anybody to play. The key is to learn from these experiences. I like your program, too; very nice variance in the music. But please post and let us all know when it is up!

I have been very busy! School let out for summer, so that has meant moving out of the dorm and back home. Furthermore, my parents have been out of state this week, so I'm playing parent (cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping, getting brother ready for prom etc.). So that has taken up a lot of my time.
I have also been practicing up a storm because I was accepted as a performer at the 2010 Panoramic Flutist workshop with Christina Jennings, Leone Buyse, and Jean Ferrandis. A lot of the other performers are master/doctoral candidates at places like Eastman and Rice. And because there is a long waiting list to be a performer, I have had to pin down selections to perform and try to get them all ready in 3 weeks (2 works with piano, 1 solo work, and 4 orchestral excerpts). Otherwise I have to forfeit my spot.
AND, in addition to all of that, I have been building my website. It's pretty simple and straight forward at the moment (just basic html, no flash or java). I have it about 85-90% completed at the moment. You can view it here:
http://www.adampettry.webs.com
I recommend viewing it in either Safari, Google Chrome, or Internet Explorer. Firefox doesn't handle the html language I use all that well (it uses 3.2 and earlier whereas I write in 4.0). You can view it, but the layout of things is a little odd and off center.
If you go to my myspace page, you can listen to the Jolivet Chant de Linos. I uploaded it already. I have been cleaning up the audio on the others and should have them up shortly (clipping the beginning and ends to get rid of dead air, noise from the device, extra applause, and normalizing the audio so that it isn't super quiet).
The link to my myspace is: http://www.myspace.com/adampettry
No membership is required to listen. Just click the link, and select Chant de Linos in the player.
I will update everyone as I get more completed.
P.S. The videos will just be slideshows with various photos. The only video I had was of the work 'Charanga' but the video was distorted and I can't line it up with quality audio because of those distortions in the length of the video.
PPS. I have also spent a lot of time composing music for a video game. My brother is a finalist at the National/International game design competition. It's mostly with loops, but there's also a certain art to using them too. I will probably do some work in Finale/Sibelius and get an old-school midi theme song going on.
