Hi, I'm a junior in high school, and I will be auditioning for conservatories the coming 2010-2011 academic year. I was having trouble deciding - Franck Sonata mvmt II, or Prokofiev Sonata mvmt II or IV? I feel like the Franck has more range, but the Prokofiev would just be more impressive. Also, I'm not sure how the audition committee would take to my playing a sonata originally intended for the violin - even though it is a staple of the flute repertoire.
I have been playing the Franck Sonata for over a year now, and the I just started the Prokofiev very recently.
As of now, I'm leaning towards Franck, but honest opinions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
Franck or Prokofiev?

Fluteguy,
I'm looking at Juilliard, NEC, CIM, Oberlin, Colburn, Eastman, MSM, Northwestern, Indiana University Jacobs School, and University of Michigan music school.
I need a movement or a work to contrast with the Mozart G Major concerto and the Bach E Minor Sonata. My teacher and I narrowed it down to Franck or Prokofiev, and he said that its ultimately my call. He says that he'd be wary of Franck because it was originally written for violin, but like I said, I've been playing that for over a year, and I recently started the Prokofiev, so I'm just asking around for any opinions. My teacher and I will be making a decision very soon though. Don't want to delay this!
Thank you!
