I need some help

I need some help

I'm 13 years old and an eight grader. Ive played the saxophone all 3 years of my band career. Yesterday i got a packet in from a private school that would like me to attend thier school for my grades. The only problem is they only offer flute fuitar and violin. Ive always been interested in the flute(mostly because its so light and i love the sound) i was just wondering how long it would take to learn the basics and if a First Act flute was the same as a normal flute and if i could start out on that. Please help me. Thanks :) Scarlett

Ive also heard that saxophone and flute have the same fingerings is this true?

Saxophone and flute have some similar fingerings (all woodwinds are somewhat similar) but they are NOT the same. You can compare them here: http://www.wfg.woodwind.org/

First Act is brand name. They primarily make beginner-level instruments. If it's in good playing condition, it would be OK to start, but there are a lot of better instruments. See the FAQ for flute information:
