Which do YOU prefer? Pearl Piccolo or Yamaha YPC62
I just wanted to conduct a survey to see which Piccolo you prefer more. Personally, I love the Pearl Piccolo! Does anyone else agree? Why/Why not?

Sorry Joe, but I don't like the Pearl piccolo at all. Well, not for me as a player at least. I know some people sound great on it and it works well for them. But for me? I can't play in tune on it AT ALL. The scale is all wrong for me and I am ALWAYS flat when I play it (even when it is pushed all the way in).
So my choice is the YPC-62. That being said I also own one. It has served me well over the past few years until I dropped it last month... doesn't play well anymore. It needs fixed. But seeing as I don't have the money at the moment (nor the need to play it) I'm having to hold off. Nothing serious I don't think. No cracks in the wood. whew!

I am fond of both piccolos, and would choose either one from a player stand point. However, I think the Pearl is cooler. As Fluteguy18 says, I think the Pearl requires more work to get use to. I got lucky and worked down the street from a Sam Ash when they first came out, so I got a chance to test drive it a bit. (The people in the Band/Orchestra section freaked out that I could play bebop on a piccolo...LOL But thought it was cool sounding so I was constantly asked to demonstrate.)
Right now I play on an Armstrong 210. I just played a couple of solo tunes at a gig last night on it. Not as nice as the Pearl, but very under rated.

No need to apologize, Everyone has their personal preferences. We sell tons of these and the new PFP165E will certainly catch up as more people find out about it also.fluteguy18 wrote:Sorry Joe,

Both are very nice piccolos. I have a YPC-62 but could use either for my purposes. When I was looking and trying piccolos, I happened upon a super deal on a new YPC-62 when a local music store was going out of business and got it for less than dealer cost. That was the determining factor for me. If you like the Pearl, and it works best for you, then that's what you should choose. My only other suggestion is to have another musician or music teacher listen to you play both to get a second opinion.
