High A vs E from the 3rd octave

Post by saritamc »

Hello, i was wondering if anyone coulf clarify something for me. I believe it has a simple anwser, i just don't seem to get there myself.

So i started playing the uper E (3rd octave), and it sounds to me just like to 2nd octave A. I don't believe it's supose to :) so can anyone tell me what am i doing wrong??? I've checked the fingerings multiple times, and it is all correct. So it must be something else.

Pleaseeeeeee help me!!

Thanks a lot!

Hi Sara, it might be happening because your flute may not have the E Mech nor the Donut Facilitator. If this is your case, so the third octave E is really a bit of a problem at the beginning.
I recommend you to try blowing a little for the outside and, at the same time, give a bit more support to the airstream working with the abdominal muscles.
