Contest!

Tomorrow is the day of my contest! I''m playing a solo
(called "The Magic Flute") and a duet. I''m really confident in my solo
playing. . .but I''m kinda worried over my duet. . .I hate to say it, but the
girl I''m playing with, well[:blackeye:], either isn''t good or doesn''t
practice. Our duet sounds good enough, but sometimes she can''t follow me or
gets messed up [:((] . When I give pointers like, try playing more dynamics she
goes "I know, I know." Well if she knew so much wouldn''t she be playing them?
::sighs:: I don''t know...we''re getting judged on the music so even if I
play good and she doesn''t, if the music sounds bad we''ll get a bad
score... My times for the contest are early and I''m happy of that. I''ll
post up the results tomorrow! Wish me luck!

Good luck! My contest is next week. I will be playing Syrinx
by Claude Debussy and a Flute trio piece called Allegro Concertante by Mozart.
the debussy is class A, and the trio is class B. whoo! dont foget to tell us how
you did! [:)]

What area do you live in that they have Class A and B pieces.
And please give a bried discription of the categories. Syrinx is a level 5 of 7
levels here. Fun piece. Easy to play, difficult to play great. I think its a
level 3 of 4 Fluteworld scale.

First? Is that first place as in the one and only winner?
Seems like every area has their own system. Here its Superior, Excellent, Good,
Fair, Poor or something like that. Majority of people get a Superior and there
is no one selected as the best or number 1. Good luck with Syrinx, I did it last
year in middle school. I was a little worried, I only had a few weeks, no
teacher and only about 2 hours a week to practice flute and learn the piece. But
I pulled it off and got the Superior. Really PO's my GF who works so hard at
the flute. With so many people getting Superior it almost makes it meaningless.
But hey there are some who get worse, so it could be worse.

I live in ohio- and here we have class A,B, or C. A being the
highest. You can get a rating of 1-5 (one being highest) Yes, Syrinx is an A
piece here. I was amazed myself, its not too rough
