how much diffrent is a flute form a Piccolo?

I really love the flute and i saw a
piccolo in the store yesterday and it was so cute, and i really want to try one,
are the fingerings the same? is it hard to ajust form 1 to the other? Thanx

I play both flute and
piccolo, and I would encourage you to try it out. It's a fun new challenge to
try playing the piccolo. The ombeture (sp?) for piccolo is slightly different
from that of a flute and may take a while to get used to. I use all teh same
fingerings for picc that i do for flute, but I know that the middle #F has a
slightly different fingering. If you are strong flute player i have no doubt
that you could easily master the piccolo as well. Good luck!![:)]

Just like she said-
piccolo is very fun, but it's hard if you haven't played it before... I belive
that it's a full octive higher than a normal flute. [:bigsmile:]
