Has anyone got a ganglion (innocuous cyst) that plays hide and seek occasionally raising its head and more often laying dormant when not bothered. I have one on my Left Wrist line below the base of my thumb - right next to the wrist bone.
After one day of intermittent (highly rewarding and enjoyable) practice, it reappeared and the area around it is a little sore when pressed (blueblack feeling). It's been two days - still there and affecting my grip a little. I wonder what I'm doing wrong - I already have a BoPep thumb rest and finger saddle installed for proper positioning. I practiced on my student flute (plated body, silver HJ)

Mine didn't play hide and seek, but was on my left index finger right where the flute rests.
Since it was painful, I had it surgically removed.

Good idea but I am hoping I can get away with no surgery. Did you consider needle aspiration? I don't want that either. It's a lot better now after rest. Its a first after 1.4yrs of playing but I've never done prolonged practice either till the other day.cflutist wrote:Mine didn't play hide and seek, but was on my left index finger right where the flute rests.

I suddenly got one on my right index finger last year. However, it doesn't affect my playing. My doctor didn't seem to care and didn't want to have it removed, although I said I didn't like it. But now it got smaller by itself. Maybe it will disappear altogether in a few months?

So they do go away by themselves, but it takes a long time. I had mine for probably a year or even longer, although as I said it got smaller.

Hi Bo, that's heartening to know hope yours disappears altogether. Thanks for the link. Yep I saw that too. Just wondering how mine reemerged and got sore. Perhaps I wasn't relaxed enough. It still feels strange like a funny bone but no longer sore.Bo wrote:http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv ... lion_cysts
